[0.8.0] Everything Confirmed So Far…

Johan and Tommaso have added a whole heap of features to 0.8.0- today we’re gonna tell you everything in detail about 0.8.0…

1. Birch, Spruce, and Jungle planks, slabs, logs and stairs

So 0.8.0 will have a bunch of new planks- for instance:

Starting to add new blocks for 0.8.0. Jungle and sponge will only be added to creative for now. ๐Ÿ™‚ pic.twitter.com/sDbKoH9Ipp

As you can see in the tweet above, Johan has added these new wooden blocks. Jungle wood will only be available in creative though, as there are no Jungle trees in survival mode. Of course, Birch, Spruce, and Oak will be obtainable from their trees.

2. Rails + Minecarts

Johan shared on this Reddit post that rails will be in 0.8.0. As redstone torches aren’t being added, powered rails will always be powered, without redstone torches. As redstone will be mineable in this update, you’ll need it for your powered rails.

3. Sideways Logs

Along with new wooden blocks, the wood logs will now be able to placed sideways- pretty cool huh?

4. New Crops!

And finally added Carrots and Potatoes, more tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚ pic.twitter.com/WOC9iuzZKi

Finally you can be the Gordon Ramsay of Minecraft – you’ll now be able to grow and feast upon carrots, pumpkins, and potatoes! Not only that, but the pumpkins can be crafted in to jack-o-lanterns, an orange alternative to glowstone. Update: Beetroot added. See bottom.

5. Where’s Wally?

Yesterday, I also implemented Walls. I need to start using them everywhere now. ๐Ÿ™‚ pic.twitter.com/jBWtamH2gt

Excuse the bad pun in the heading, but we now have more ways to block people out. Cobblestone walls and iron bars are being introduced in this update. Iron bar sources- 1, 2

6. More Items- You Won’t Get Lost!

yay afterthoughts! I was fixing the bow, and the clock and compass became easy to add.. It’s neat when it happens! pic.twitter.com/glDOB9L2dV

Tommaso  has added a clock and a compass to the game. Clocks are handheld items that display the time by displaying the sun and the moon’s position along the horizon. Now you know what time it is, even when you’re underground. Compasses always point towards the player’s original spawn point, no matter where in your map you are!

7. Carpets and Hay

oh yeah right. Here, have a screenshot! pic.twitter.com/pp4Zk6HiG0

As shown in the inventory of the above screenshot, carpets are added! You’ll be able to craft any colour carpet, as long as it’s already available as a wool. Another new feature are hay bales, as shown in the inventory of this photo. They’re gonna look awesome around your farm!

8. New Creative Inventory

Anew creative inventory- and note the long grass and ferns!

9. And more!

A picture from Jeb’s Instagram show a surprise feature- looking like a radish? We

Now know this is a beetroot, can be made into soup or dye, and know it is only going to be in Pocket Edition.

Another new feature worth noting is that animals will be breedable! Sadly, we do not know how it will work yet, but will probably be the same as PC.

Not just that, but redstone will now be mineable to craft powered rails, and to keep for when redstone circuitry is added sometime after 0.9.0.
