Nintendo has announced a brand new handheld game console, named the Nintendo Switch. This new console is a hybrid handheld/set-top device that can be used portably or simply in your normal TV. It has neat controllers that can be detached and used in numerous ways. It’s pretty cool.
If you liked the Wii-U edition of Minecraft, or just enjoy Minecraft on other platforms and are considering buying the Switch, you’ll be pleased to hear the good news. Minecraft is coming to the Nintendo Switch!
There’s not many details, nor any release date, on the Nintendo store’s listing. The description is very simple.
“The critically acclaimed Minecraft comes to the Nintendo Switch system. Create your very own game world to explore, build and conquer. When night falls the monsters appear, so ensure you’ve made yourself a shelter before they arrive. Make it through the night and the world is only limited by your imagination you choose what you want to make or what to do.”
Like all other console editions of Minecraft, Switch Edition is being developed by 4J Studios.
No price has been announced, but it will likely be priced similarly to the Wii U Edition. Wii U Edition is the most expensive version of Minecraft, priced at $29.99 USD. Ff Mojang decided not to include DLC with the purchase, the price could be reduced.
Story Mode too!
Another neat surprise is that Minecraft: Story Mode by Telltale Games will also be available on the Switch. If you prefer a story driven game rather than Minecraft’s infinite sandbox, Story Mode’s the game to get.
